Education

-Bachelor's degree in English from The Citadel, The military College of South Carolina (cum laude, 2014). -Currently studying at Johns Hopkins for a masters in Education. -Poolesville High School, Global Ecology magnet program (2010).

Experience

I served as a long term substitute teacher at Neeslville Middle School. I also took part in the "Homework Club" where I individually tutored middle school student at Neelsville Middle school, and at Goodwin Elementary, SC. Through my junior and senior years at The Citadel, I individually tutored underclassmen in English and writing on a daily basis. I love English and all its aspects, and I love even more sharing my knowledge with students so that they can grow as individuals by appreciating the lessons taught by English and literature.

Hobbies

While at the Citadel, I participated in Army ROTC and the Summerall Guards. I also played club soccer and lacrosse. With all this going on, however, I never drew more pleasure than from my English studies and the opportunities I got to tutor underclassmen. My approach to teaching/tutoring is not simply for a higher grade (though that is a good byproduct), but to enrich students' understanding of English and literature and instill in them an interest that will ultimately benefit them for the rest of their lives. Understanding the concepts English has to offer should not be measured and confined to tests and essays, but should serve as universal knowledge applicable to almost every facet of students' lives.
